WHAT WE THOUGHT YESTERDAY, OTHERS ARE THINKING THAT TODAY

Auto rickshaw is now a very popular vehicle of passenger transport for short distance in our country.  A person with an auto rickshaw & if he himself drives it, can earn Tk.800 or $11 daily after its maintenance cost.  Any able person can drive it with 2 hours practice. Also these vehicle run by charging system through battery,they are environment friendly. Market price of an auto rickshaw is Tk.150,000 or $2000

At the end of 2013 we had taken a project,named "A Smiling Life". The goal of "A Smiling Life” project was to give a good family with solvent economic background to every school going children of Shapla Chottor area. Also to make sure that there will be no worry for them & their families about education, health, sanitation & better future.

We had selected 75 poor families, each contains minimum 2 school going children for That project. We wanted to give 50 auto rickshaws to 50 families first.In the next year remaining families will get the vehicles. There was a mandatory savings system in which every beneficiary family, after taking an auto rickshaw; had to contribute $4/day for 1 year. The foundation would maintain the account on behalf of their school going children & also ready to provide all the necessary requirement for their proper education &  sound health. 
But because of fund crisis we were able to give only 8 auto rickshaws to 8 poor families. We were unable to find any donor who would finance the project. Every one thought the project would not be a successful one. But these 8 families are doing very well. Now, after 6 months they are in a good position.

Thengamara Mohila Somobai Somity (T.M.S.S) is a well known NGO in Bangladesh. They are now giving people auto rickshaw on credit. People also taking this chance. Because of high interest rate of this credit we are doubtful about its positive outcome for the creditor. TMSS will get their money back with due interest, but no better future will be remain upon these creditors. They will become ill health & poorest to repay the credit.
